<p>Which are the BIG internet marketing optimization factors?   It&#8217;s &#8220;fun&#8221; to focus on some new discovery because often a small tweak can cause your site to rank better overnight.   It turns out that a lot of little things add up to a good showing in the search engine results and bring in traffic. Of the 100 or so factors, I&#8217;ll start by covering 5 here:</p>
<p>Q. Does having the keyword in the URL affect ranking?<br />
A. Yes; It *increases* search results rankings.<br />

<p>When we look at 3000 different keyword searches, 85% of the time we will find that having the keyword in the URL results in a better <a class="zem_slink" title="Search engine results page" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine_results_page">SERP</a> (Search Engine Results Pages) result.</p>
<p>Q. Does having a &#8220;.com&#8221; domain affect ranking?<br />
A. Yes; It *increases ranking.<br />

<p>This is not to say that Google cares about if the url is a &#8220;dot com&#8221; or not.  More likely is that &#8220;dot com&#8221; websites have been around longer and get more traffic, two factors known to affect good rankings.</p>

<p>&#8220;Related to&#8221; is what we mean by &#8220;relevant.&#8221;  Any subject that you can relate in some way to your business can be relevant in an article.  For instance, say you were selling a business start up kit, you should come up with related ideas that will satisfy search engines and humans:</p>

<p>Creating an advertising budget on a shoestring</p>
<p>Basic equipment business startups need</p>

<p>This is not a complete list of course.  Any website about small business can generate a large number of articles with content that&#8217;s relevant.</p>
<p>Another example would be if you sold something like dog treats.</p>
<p>It can be harder to determine relevant content when dealing with niche markets.  If your subject is very limited, consider including in the subject of your articles other areas that may be of interest to visitors.</p>
<p>In the above example it is safe to assume that most of your readers and prospects are dog owners.  So given that consideration, there are lots of topics you can write or otherwise acquire that will keep readers interested and brand you an expert.  For example:</p>
<p>How to come up with a creative name for your new puppy</p>
<p>Housebreaking tips for puppies</p>
<p>How to vacation with your dog</p>
<p>How to come up with a creative name for your new puppy</p>
<p>The best dog breeds for households with children</p>

<p>All of these topics are a natural extension of a core business: dogs and the owners who love them. They&#8217;re all relevant to the website, and a mention of homemade dog treats could be included in each article without sounding blatant or awkward.</p>

<p>Traditional methods of advertising were somewhat different. An ad would be paid for according to its duration not exposure. You would simply pay for your ad to be run for a certain length of time, regardless of how much exposure it got.</p>
<p>It could be shown in a variety of different places; newspaper, TV, radio and online, on a website page. Somebody decided that there could be a far better way to advertise online. It is true that not all Internet marketing methods give the same exposure; some methods give a lot of views, others less. For instance a website with heavy traffic will give your ad a great deal of exposure, so why not develop a system that pays the website host and advertiser?</p>

This is the ideal time to highlight the benefits of the product or service to the visitor. This procedure is almost like a safety net because you are explaining the process to them so they will not misunderstand. It is this approach that prevents a good many refunds form taking place.</p>
<p>If you want visitors to your websites then you must continue your article marketing this way; regularly submitting articles is necessary and should not be viewed as something you only have to do once.
