I am an international commodity trade consultant spending many hours a day on Internet and computer. So I would like to know if I could take up any job that suits this nature. I can assist on office document preparation email marketing, content writing and scientific literature search/compilation. Please give your advices on how to reach these employers and references for verifying their authenticity.

I would suggest that you search for that kind of jobs in odesk.com. There are other sites like allwriting.com/net and academia-research.com where you can possibly find good matches.
However, I suggest that you look at writing jobs in general for the search results will be bigger. I am sure that there are many other writing and virtual assistant jobs that you can satisfactorily deliver.
Most of them are scam.. they ask for upfront payment and guarantee that you’ll cover it in days.. but then they disappear..
elance and guru are good option you can try to explore others as well.

Out of all the work-at-home/virtual assistance places I’ve searched, the only one that I found to be legit and worth going after is a company called VIP Desk. They have very intense training though and you have to train every day online with no interruptions for a LOOOONG time (2 weeks to a month).

Why not start your own home business as a Virtual Assistant, specialising in that area? That way you get to chose who you work with.
I just started my own VA business with the help of VAnetworking.com and they made it easy for me. Even if you’re not in a position to purchase this resource, they have a free networking forum where there are thousands of VAs just waiting to encourage and assist you along the way.
