I am a business professional in the marketing communications field. I have a problem. I am currently looking for another job, and everytime there is a job in the paper, or on the internet that is in my field, I automatically think I am not good/smart enough for that job. I know I need to take risks, and I am currently setting myself up for those, but my question is: How do you have more confidence in yourself in the business world?

    everybody (and I mean everybody) feels at some point like they are inadequate or unqualified for what they are doing, and that any day somebody will expose them for it. this is key. if you begin to realise that everybody feels the way you do, it helps to level the playing field.
    So:
    1) remember this fact
    2) do everything you can to develop or refresh the skills you do have that qualify you for what you really want to be doing.
    3) be yourself, and believe in who you are
    these all sound so cliche, i know, but if you succeed in those three things you’re more than half way there, hon.

    Having been in management for 30 years I can assure you that all it takes to build confidence in yourself and your abilities is to look around at the people who are already holding jobs related to those you seek. It’s simply a matter of stoping to think that “if that idiot can do it I KNOW I can”.

    Remember: If you don t believe in yourself noone else will! So try to start building up your confidence, through maybe working out, or some other activity… and don t be frighten by challenges!! You ve gotta make the first step, take the risk! You never know, you might get the call back, get the job! But there not gonna come knock on your door if you don t apply!

    In my opinion what you do matters as much as how you feel. When talking to people stand up straight, practice a firm hand shake and always remember to make eye contact. Also watch your body language, don’t cross your arms or legs it shuts you off from the person your talking to. Another good idea is to research the company and job you’re going for. The more people percieve you as confident the more confident you will become. Always remember business is fickle so don’t take set backs personally just keep trying for that perfect job.

    Just TRUST YOUR SELF and your KNOWLEDGE.. Only way you will have more Confidence in yourself…untill you can get the exprience to back it up from the related field. GL job huntin .
